Unfortunately there is no functioning garbage disposal and collection system in Ghana. Because of this, there is a lot of garbage in public spaces, especially plastic. The SYC informs about the problem and organises cleanup campaigns with young people.
Unfortunately, many people in Ghana are lacking awareness of a clean environment. You just throw garbage out onto the street, so there are tons of plastic and other pieces of trash lying around. But there are also no alternatives: there is simply no trash can or garbage disposal. Ultimately, this task is up to you.
Through information campaigns, the Saboba Youth Center draws attention to this problem. In particular, they try to motivate young people to work for a cleaner environment. As a result, the SYC regularly organises clean-up campaigns where young people collect garbage in their village. In the course of a day, a considerable amount of garbage is collected from the streets, which can then be properly disposed of.
